Care and Maintenance

Here are some useful tips for the care of timber and composite decking boards:

Cleaning and Caring for Composite Decks

  • Sweep the deck as you would a normal patio
  • Wash with soap and water as you would a tiled area
  • If there are any marks on the deck, hose the deck down with a high pressure hose or hose the deck and sweep with a hard bristle broom
  • If there is a stubborn mark, lightly sand the area with 100grid sandpaper. There will be a slight colour change for a few days before it blends back.
  • Do not oil. There is no need!

Cleaning and Caring for Timber Decks

  • Sweep the deck as you would a normal patio
  • If there are any marks on the deck, hose the deck down with a high pressure hose or hose the deck and sweep with a hard bristle broom
  • If there is a stubborn mark, lightly sand the area with 100grid sandpaper. There will be a slight colour change for a few days before it blends back.
  • Oil the deck at least twice a year, once before the wet season and once after the wet season.
  • I would personally advise you to oil the deck three to four times a year.

Cleaning and Maintaining a Vinyl Floor

  •  Sweep the floor as you would a normal floor
  • Wash with soap and water as you would a tiled area
  • Do not sand. There is no need!

Cleaning and maintaining a Solid Timber Floor or a Laminate Floor

  • Sweep the floor as you would a normal floor
  • Wash with soap and water as you would a tiled area
  • If there is a stubborn mark, try polishing it out using any floor polish. There will be a slight colour change for a few days before it blends back.
  • Polish the floor a minimum of once or twice a year. You can polish it more if you wish.
